This members only event, chaired by Cllr Peter John, will provide a project update and discussion on a potential regional adoption agency model for London.
A London regional adoption model is being considered in response to the Department for Education's proposals to move to regional adoption agencies to speed up matching adoptive parents to children, markedly improve the life chances of neglected and damaged children, improve adopter recruitment and support; and reduce costs.
Expert speakers will talk about the work completed so far, service design and any legal implications for an agency model. You will have the opportunity to discuss the future direction of the project. Lunch will be provided from 1pm.
This event would be suited to members with a practical interest in the development of regional adoption. The event is open to councillors and directors of children's services in the London Boroughs.
