Work Programme figures published

The first official figures on the number of people accepted onto the government’s Work Programme were published by the DWP yesterday. The Work Programme launched in June 2011 and the figures show how many unemployed people have been referred on to the programme and how many have now started. In London, between in June 2011 and the end of October 2011, just under 56,000 people had been referred on to the programme by Jobcentre Plus, and 49,000 had started on the programme.
