Improving London Libraries, held at London Councils on Tuesday 1st December, was a special briefing on the London Library Change Programme for Members with responsibility for Public Library Services in London.

Members received an advance preview of the findings of three important efficiency projects which have been funded by Capital Ambition and how this programme fits in with the wider Local Government agenda.

The agenda can be downloaded below.

London Libraries Annual Seminar, at NCVO on Friday 13 November 2009, showcased the key findings of the London Library Change Programme and the agreed next steps towards creating a more efficient and effective library service for Londoners.

At this stage, we have prioritised three areas which we think will enable us to work together more effectively: common standards, a cost effective interlending process and an equitable workforce. These changes will provide the framework for further improvement.

This is a crucial time for London's libraries. Together we can share costs but, most importantly, increase the quality of our services to customers. The seminar supported attendees to play a central role in shaping plans for immediate and short-term change in their own authorities and for longer-term change across London. Learning from the workshops will directly shape plans for Phase 3 of the programme.

The agenda and flyer can be downloaded below.

Already under way is Phase 2 of the London Library Change Programme, which is seeking to contribute to a transformation in the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of London's library services.
