London Borough Climate Change Network
London Borough Climate Change Group
The London Boroughs Climate Change Group is made up of officers from the 32 London Boroughs, the City of London, and various regional and central Government stakeholders, and selected NGOs working in climate change and related areas in London.
We formed to meet various objectives, including:
- to create stronger links between the London boroughs on climate change related issues.
- to facilitate improved information dissemination, increase awareness of what boroughs and other organisations are involved with, and share best practice between London boroughs on climate change related issues.
- to create stronger links and facilitate better working between the London boroughs and key local, regional and national stakeholders, such as the Government Office for London, the Greater London Authority, Transport for London, the Environment Agency, the London Development Agency, and other key organisations.
- to improve and strengthen communication with Central Government to enable boroughs to better respond to the increasingly high profile Government agenda on climate change, such as new priorities like climate change indicators and development of Local Area Agreements relating to climate change matters.
- help to facilitate, where appropriate, the implementation of the Mayor’s Climate Change Action Plan and input where possible, into other plans and strategies, such as the Mayor’s forthcoming statutory Climate Change and Adaptation Strategies.
This network has been created to provide borough officers, borough councillors, and other stakeholders of the LBCCG with a central source of information on climate change matters in order to improve working and facilitate better coordination and communication in this increasingly important field.
