
Victims of sexual abuse to receive extra support thanks to London Councils
Children and young people across the capital who have been the victims of sexual abuse have received a boost after London Councils provided £800,000 to schemes to help them recover from their experiences and build a new life for themselves.
Among the four organisations commissioned by London Councils is Respond who will receive £213,589 to support children and young people with learning or physical disabilities who have been subjected to sexual abuse. They will also provide the victims' families with advice on supporting a child who has experienced sexual abuse.
Mosac will receive £208,339 to help children aged between five and 11 who have been the victims of abuse to come to terms with their feelings through specially designed play therapy sessions. Brook London will receive £216,336 to provide three part-time counsellors to work at its centres in Lambeth, Southwark and Camden to provide young abuse victims with a long-term programme of counselling.
