London boroughs officially among the best in the country

London's boroughs are continuing to provide their residents with some of the best services enjoyed anywhere in the country according to figures released today (Thursday) by the Audit Commission.

The 2007 Comprehensive Performance Assessments (CPA), measure the quality of services provided by English councils to their local communities and their commitment to improving these services in the future.

For the third year running the capital boasts some of the country's top councils with six London boroughs among the 13 authorities receiving the highest possible rating under CPA.

The figures also show that 97 per cent of London's boroughs are rated as improving well or strongly with 94 per cent gaining three or four stars.

These results come hot on the heels of findings that show London performs better than any other region in England when it comes to delivering value for money to its residents.
