London Development Agency

The LDA is one of nine regional agencies set up by the Government to promote economic development and regeneration.  It reports to the Mayor, and consults and works with a wide range of public and private sector partners.

The LDA has three main roles: to promote London and attract more visitors and trade; to invest in initiatives which help people (particularly in disadvantaged communities)  enhance their skills, develop businesses and find jobs; and to co-ordinate investment and support for deprived parts of London to help deliver new homes, jobs and community facilities. It also makes the case for better and new infrastructure in areas in need of renewal.

The LDA is run by a board of members appointed by the Mayor. There are currently 15 of them, four of whom are borough councillors.
