Electronic waste in London

Two of every three electrical items thrown away by householders is either collected by the local council's bulky waste services, taken to a civic amenity site or taken back by a retailer. The remainder - nearly a third - is either fly-tipped or thrown in the bin. Properly disposed of, virtually all of an electrical or electronic item can be recycled.

Steel and plastic make up 68 per cent of the total amount of 97,800 tonnes of material recovered from discarded electrical and electronic goods in London.
