Do the maths: tackling shortages of primary school places in London

London Councils is lobbying the government to address the huge shortage of primary school reception places. 

Changes in London’s demographics led to extraordinary demand for new reception places, and many schools now have little or no capacity to take on new pupils. An urgent capital funding injection is needed. The government has stressed the importance of providing suitable classrooms for all pupils but until it acknowledges the shortfall in capital resources and ensures that funding more accurately reflects the need for extra classroom capacity, the situation in London will not be resolved.
