be a councillor - campaign resources
Welcome
Welcome to the 'be a councillor' resources section which includes information and resources for those of us working to increase participation in local democracy.
The 'be a councillor' campaign has been running in London since June 2008 and centres on the website www.beacouncillor.org.uk Opens in a new window and accompanying printed information.
If you're interested in running a similar campaign in your area, take a look at the document 'Learning from the campaign', available as a link at the end of this page.
A big thank you goes to the borough officers who have supported this campaign and taken advantage of the free campaign material to support their work around encouraging participation in local democracy.
In the menu on the left you'll find:
- an online order form for a range of 'be a councillor' literature and promotional items
- the latest news from the 'be a councillor' campaign and forthcoming plans
- the key milestones - both achieved so far and the next steps
- an explanation of what happens when people interested in being councillors make contact with us
- media coverage of the campaign
- the findings from a survey of Londoners' political awareness
- what boroughs did during Local Democracy Week 2009
