Regional Data Mart for London
London Councils together with five boroughs is currently exploring the feasibility of establishing a regional workforce/human capital data mart for London. A data mart is a specialised version of a data warehouse focussing on a specific data area. With this concept boroughs would upload their workforce data quarterly into the database and, using a reporting tool, this would allow them to drill down into their own data while having comparable top level benchmarking data from the other boroughs. Sickness Absence and Employee Turnover Survey Report (password protected)
The full report on sickness absence and employee turnover, covering the period 2006/2007, has now been released. This is an extensive information resource not only providing data on London local government but also drawing together survey data from other industry sectors for benchmarking purposes. London’s sickness absence is now at its lowest level since the surveys began in 1994/1995.
Workforce Planning Audit Survey (password protected)
Now released, this survey provides an analysis of boroughs’ perceptions of their capability and capacity to undertake workforce planning. One of the key findings is that, generally, workforce planning tends to be underdeveloped in the boroughs.

Help with Housing for employees
London Councils has established a relationship with Tower Homes, who together with Metropolitan Home Ownership coordinate the government’s affordable home ownership schemes in London. As more of the local government workforce becomes potentially eligible for assistance with housing costs, and the schemes available give council workers a greater chance of accessing this help, it may be worth having another look at the Housing Options website Opens in a new windowto check out what they can do for you and your employees. More information will also shortly be available on the Recruitment Managers Network part of our website, or contact Salli Reynolds.
