Andy Ludlow Homelessness Awards 2008
The 2008 awards
The 2008 Andy Ludlow Homelessness Awards once more recognised the innovation and commitment of those involved in preventing homelessness across London. Five projects won between £500 and £5,000 with the outright winner winning £10,000.
Awarding this year's winners, Streetwise Opera, with their prize money Iain Wright MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State from the Department of Communities and Local Government spoke of his enthusiasm for the awards: "My greatest fulfillment as a minister is in meeting people doing extraordinary things on the ground to tackle homelessness and rough sleeping. The energy, commitment and passion of the sector is truly inspiring and the Andy Ludlow awards are a champion of this fantastic work."
Ludlow judge and London Councils' executive member for housing, Cllr Jamie Carswell, said: "This has been an interesting and tough year. All organisations involved with housing, both large and small, must hold our nerve and work together to support hard-pressed residents - after all, today's homeowners could be tomorrow's homeless".
More information about all the projects and a short film showing interviews with their users are available via the menu on the left.
