Security arrangements at 59½

Security has recently been improved at our main offices at 59½ Southwark Street, and all visitors should be aware of them.

The changes are a result of the summer terrorist bombings, and subsequent police advice, and will bring the offices up to a standard of security similar to that of other public buildings in London.

There are three main changes:

  • Entry and exit is now through electronic gates, operated by security pass which can be collected from the main reception on arrival
  • All visitors (and staff) have to wear their security pass at all times
  • Names of all visitors must be available in advance, to enable the security passes to be prepared ready for collection on arrival

The tighter security measures mean that it may take longer for large groups of people to come into the building, so you may need to allow yourself longer to get into a meeting on time.

The building will, of course, remain fully wheelchair-accessible: visitors in wheelchairs should check in at the main reception as before, and will then be able to enter through a new electronic door.

To keep delays to an absolute minimum, it is essential that we know the names of all visitors in advance, so please confirm whether or not you will be attending any meeting to which you have been invited. If someone is coming on your behalf, please let us know.

Your co-operation is appreciated, many thanks.
