This seminar provided elected members with the opportunity for e to consider the implications of their work as corporate parents, and covered a range of the challenges and dilemmas that come with this crucial role.

This seminar:

  • highlighted some of the excellent work taking place across London and the rest of the country to help corporate parents make a positive difference to the experiences of looked after children in their local area;
  • provided access to a range of free resources to support members in boosting the effectiveness of the role;
  • outlined new research into the factors that could influence a rise or fall in the number of children entering the local care system;
  • briefed delegates on the implications of an incoming duty for all young people on remand to be supported as looked after children.
