Tourism

Tourism is one of the key drivers of London's economy supporting around 260,000 jobs and generating approximately £15 billion in visitor spending each year in the capital.

Local government is a significant investor in promoting and developing tourism. London Councils works to support boroughs in maximising the impact of tourism across the city.

Our Partners

London Councils works with the 33 authorities to support them in their work around tourism.

We fund Visit London to help boroughs develop their tourism offer. As part of this programme Visit London maintain a Local Tourism Resources Opens in a new window section of their website aimed at boroughs. This site contains the latest updates, toolkits, factsheets and tutorials to support boroughs develop their visitor economy.

London Councils also works with the London Development Agency Opens in a new window on their work to spread the benefits of tourism across the city.

Current projects

London Councils have recently been working with Visit London to ensure that boroughs can benefit from the tourism potential of the Cultural Olympiad.
