Cultural Olympiad

The Cultural Olympiad is an exciting four-year festival that builds from 2008 until 2012, when London hosts the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The Cultural Olympiad showcases to the world the rich cultural offer of London and the UK. It should also engage all of the communities in London in cultural celebration. For many London residents the Cultural Olympiad is their opportunity to engage with the Games through participating and attending events and activities over the four years.

The role of London boroughs

The boroughs have a key role in the planning and delivery of the Olympiad. Using their vast experience of delivering cultural events and projects in partnership with their communities and as key funders of cultural activity; boroughs must be involved to ensure the best possible Olympiad.

London Councils is working with the 32 boroughs and the City of London, London 2012, the Great London Authority and the regional cultural agencies to ensure that boroughs are at the heart of delivering the Olympiad. We are also working closely with the two Creative Programmers for London, Sarah Barnwell and Hadrian Garrard.
