London boroughs launch the Cultural Olympiad

The Cultural Olympiad will launch on Open Weekend and Open Rehearsal on 24-26 September with nearly 300 innovative events across London, many of which will be organised by boroughs.

Announcements have also been made about the first projects that will have the Inspire Mark, following London 2012's call for applications earlier this year.

Two of the seven projects in London to receive the Inpsire Mark are led by partnerships of London boroughs - West London Festival Finale 2008 organsied by the West London Alliance and the CREATE08 Art Award led by the 5 Host Boroughs.

As well as the Cultural Olympiad, London boroughs will play a vital role in the London 2012, both in planning and preparations, delivering the Games themselves and most importantly, in achieving a lasting legacy for London and all its communities long after the 2012 Games have finished.
