My Mentor

My Mentor - Pan London Mentoring Project Objectives and the Expected Outcome/Benefit

This project has established a low cost, on-line, pan-London mentor matching programme for the London boroughs and will bring together staff from across the Capital who wish to act either act as mentors, or be mentored.

The product is called ‘My Mentor’ and the site became operational in March 2011 and provides the potential to expand and include other public sector agencies, private and voluntary sectors.

The delivery of the project was undertaken by a Consortium of five London boroughs and Skillsgate, who provided the technical expertise.

Going forward the Consortium will:

  • hold the intellectual property rights to the system
  • manage the technological support provided by Skillgate
  • provide quality assurance including interim bi annual evaluation of performance
  • coordinate pan-London participation through marketing activities
  • ensure the transition to sustainability by March 2012

The Consortium is currently preparing a marketing plan which will include promotional materials and a contact matrix. The Consortium is also providing assistance with implementation and planning within new boroughs and will work with colleagues to help them plan how to link the product to existing or emerging local strategies.  The five boroughs in the Consortium are: Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea, City of London, Hammersmith & Fulham, Westminster City Council and Ealing. RBKC are the lead borough.
