On 23 October 2008, the GLA wrote to all of the London Boroughs proposing new affordable housing targets. The new targets have been set to achieve the delivery of 50,000 affordable homes in London from 2008 – 2011. This paper provides a summary of the process for setting the revised targets and an overview of the GLA’s proposals for individual boroughs. Executive Members are asked to consider whether London Councils should take further action on this issue.

Executive Committee is recommended to:

• Note the process for determining revised affordable housing targets, and in particular the agreement for the GLA to negotiate revised LAA targets as set out in paragraph 6.

• Comment, and agree on, a London Councils’ position (set out in paragraph 12) which would form the basis for our lobbying on this issue.
