The London Child Poverty Network

News - June 2010

  • The consultation on draft statutory guidance covering the Child Poverty Act: 'Duties of local authorities and other bodies in England' was launched on 26th March. The formal consultation runs to 18th June, with the final version of the guidance being published in summer 2010. Consultation responses can be offered through: www.dcsf.gov.uk/consultations/index.cfm
  • 4in10: The End Child London Project (4in10) came to an end on 30th April 2010. The end of the project was planned, having been funded from the beginning for a fixed period of two years. Click here to look at the evaluation report.
  • You may also want to look at 'Child Poverty Champions 4in10: The End Child Poverty London Project's Guide to Good Practice' which was launched at a Parliamentary Event on 25 March. The guide includes a range of good practice examples of VCS organisations working to tackle child poverty.

Government Office for London and London Councils Child Poverty Network

The London Child Poverty Network has been set up by the Government Office for London and London Councils for local authorities and partners to share good practice, discuss local issues and to support pan London approaches to tackling child poverty.

The purpose of the network

  • encourage and stimulate ideas
  • enable information and knowledge sharing
  • showcase best practice
  • provide networking opportunities for members
  • raise and promote awareness and understanding of child poverty
  • identify barriers and solutions to service delivery
  • enable the Child Poverty Unit and others to have direct dialogue with key stakeholders
  • enable development of specific work on targeted client groups / areas
  • encourage and develop work to deliver the London child poverty target support cross cutting and cross sector working between LAs / LSPs , CPU, GOL etc
  • encourage and support delivery of the London Child Poverty Pledge
  • influence and feedback stakeholder views to Government and vice versa
