This is the second edition of the best practice manual for practitioners of contract and relationship management in local government. The first edition proved to be very popular with local authorities, both in London and nationally, with thousands of copies being either downloaded and/or distributed.
Since the publication of the first edition much has changed in local government. There is now an even greater requirement to reduce costs and generate greater value from the delivery of services across the local government organisation. The need for strong and effective management of contracts and contractual relationships has even greater importance for every council, in this financial climate and continuing for years to come.
The new edition of this manual has been now been updated to include the latest developments, policy and case law. It is also cross referenced to the new Supplier Relationship Development (SRD) toolkit which provides a multi-authority, common supplier approach, to contract management at an individual authority level.
