Time

The following issues and concerns relating to time should be considered as part of any flexible working programme.

  • Variable working hours - revised start/finish times, compressed working weeks and term time working
  • Zero hours - pay reflects the completion of specific tasks
  • Annualised hours - total number of working hours is calculated over a year rather than a week. Used to fit in with peaks and troughs of work
  • Part-time and Jobshare - two or more people are employed to undertake the duties usually incorporated within a full time position
  • Shift working or Self rostering - allows for services to open for longer periods and this will be on agreed flexi-time
