Flexible Working

As improvements in ICT and office automation increase, Councils are presented with the opportunity of introducing a flexible working culture into their organisation. Flexible working enables the delivery of improved efficiency by allowing workers to remotely access relevant ICT platforms, enabling work to be completed by staff in line with their individual time and geographical constraints.

Flexible working must be based on the premise that service delivery will either improve or remain at its current level. The introduction of flexible working benefits should be targeted at staff in positions which require the greatest amount of workplace flexibility, and will not necessarily be applicable to all staff. Ideally flexible working parameters should be determined for each individual staff member, having regard to their role, ICT dependency and HR requirements.
