Collaboration, knowledge transfer and best practice

Collaboration is at the heart of public sector transformation. It underpins everything we do at LEP because we know that positive change today, innovation and long-term improvement for tomorrow, has the greatest impact when our sector acts together with confidence.

LEP has established a successful methodology of accelerating large-scale change of multiple participants, providing a centre of expertise, building trust and confidence and meeting the needs of differing and varied stakeholders. This has led to virtually all London boroughs and GLA functional bodies implementing recommended improvements to energy procurement; adoption and use of the CRC Toolkit and delegating authority to LEP to represent their interests.
LEP's approach to supporting your route to best practice and achieving value for money is to take a centralised and pro-active enabling role:

  • identifying necessary improvements and developing a supporting delivery strategy which you can implement in your borough
  • helping you to demonstrate the business case and measure the benefits of change
  • working with energy management, finance and procurement officers and senior management teams
  • providing a peer review service including giving your borough improvement plans, implementation tools, and business cases
  • communicating clear, consistent and coherent messages to borough energy and finance managers via our regular newsletters and fact sheets on best practice in the areas of savings, efficiency, risk management and carbon reduction
  • representing borough interests, supporting your officers, lobbying relevant government departments, playing a lead role on the national agenda and challenging suppliers where appropriate
  • working with suppliers and service providers to meet your needs and expectations

We offer a series of relevant events, which cross-cut borough work streams and provide delegates with real life experience to accelerate in-borough adoption of best practice across a wide range of energy related activities. We held four main events in 2009 that enabled knowledge transfer and access to practical support, with consistently high satisfaction levels from an average of 70 delegates per event. We have been continuing our programme of events in 2010, and our first major event this year was Making your meters work, held on 5th July 2010, which provided information on demand reduction technologies, electricity and gas AMR choices and best practice case studies.

You can find details of our older events on our Events pre 2009 page and planned events for the rest of 2010-11 on the Upcoming events page.

We have also published a number of case studies and other useful links.
