5. Workforce Strategy
Purpose: In July 2008 the Capital Ambition Programme Board received and approved a three year Regional Workforce Strategy, based on the priorities agreed in the Interim Improvement and Efficiency Strategy 2008-2012. Since that time, there have been significant changes in the economic situation facing the boroughs. In response, Capital Ambition has reviewed its priorities to better support the boroughs in this new environment. It is therefore thought timely to revisit the strategy to ensure it is focused on helping the boroughs tackle their medium to longer-term workforce and people management challenges, meet demanding fiscal settlements and develop longer-term capability.
Recommendation: The Programme Board is asked to review the paper and is invited to consider whether and in what ways any of the suggested approaches in the report should be further explored.
