The Board

The restructured Capital Ambition Board, chaired by Edward Lord OBE, met formally for the first time on 24 February 2011. The Member-led Board will provide effective governance of existing projects and oversee investment in new projects that reflect the priorities as agreed with the Leaders’ Committee.

The Board comprises of five elected members, advised by three Chief Executives, with two nominees from the Greater London Authority, a representative from the Local Government Group and a nominee from the Society of London Treasurers.  A full list of members can be found via the link above.

In line with the new approach, the Capital Ambition Board agreed clear priorities for the type of efficiency work it supports. Those priorities are:

  • Enhancing Collaborative Procurement
  • Developing Shared Services
  • Supporting Service Re-Design and improving Productivity
  • Addressing Workforce Planning and productivity
  • Supporting Major Policy Programmes

These priorities are underpinned by a more detailed set of criteria for funding. 

The Board is also be supported in its decision making process by the Shared Services and Joint Procurement Board, chaired by Rob Leek (CE, LB Enfield).  This Board assesses all business cases before referral to the main Capital Ambition Board.  The Capital Ambition Board is the sole decision making authority for all funds.
