Political Groups

London Councils is a cross-party organisation representing boroughs of every political complexion. This is the current political make up of London (after May 2010 elections):

Labour control 17 of the 32 boroughs: Barking and Dagenham, Barnet, Camden, Ealing, Enfield, Hackney, Haringey, Harrow, Havering, Hounslow, Greenwich, Islington, Lambeth, Lewisham, Newham, Southwark and Tower Hamlets.

The Conservatives controls 11 boroughs: Barnet, Bexley, Bromley, Croydon, Hammersmith and Fulham, Havering, Hillingdon, Kensington and Chelsea, Richmond, Wandsworth and Westminster.

The Liberal Democrats control two boroughs: Kingston and Sutton.

Two boroughs have no overall political control: Merton and Redbridge

The City of London is politically independent.
