Cllr Sean Brennan

Vice Chair (Liberal Democrat)

Councillor Sean Brennan became Leader of Sutton Council in October 2002. He was first elected in 1986 and, apart from a short break has served as a local councillor. He will work closely with the Chair, on finance and funding issues, devolution to London local government and improvement and efficiency issues.

He has been a member of all the Council’s major committees, including the Chair of the former Education Committee, Chair of the Sutton Area Committee and Executive Councillor for Community Engagement. He was also Mayor of the borough in 1990.

Councillor Brennan has lived in London since 1970, teaching at schools in South London, becoming deputy head teacher of a large comprehensive school before he retired in 2000 to devote more time to his council work at Sutton. 

Councillor Brennan is Vice Chairman of London Councils.
