
Chris Roberts has been leader of Greenwich Council since 2000 and has played an important role in the physical, social and economic regeneration of the borough since his election as a councillor in 1994. He is the executive member for economic development and infrastructure -including planning, culture, tourism and 2012.
His achievements include creating GLLaB - a scheme which has placed over 10,000 people into jobs, helped bring the Millenium Dome to the borough and supported its transition into the 02, and developed thousands of new homes on industrial land which had lain derelict.
Chris has chaired the Thames Gateway London Partnership for three years. He has also played a leading role in developing the borough’s transport strategies, with DLR stations being completed at Cutty Sark and Woolwich, and bringing Crossrail to the borough.
Having served on the Interim Legacy Board for the 2012 Olympic Bid, Chris now chairs the Five Host Boroughs Employment Partnership Board.
Chris is a member of the GMB Union and the Co-operative Party and is on the board of directors/a trustee for a number of other organisations.
