Our Work Small

Information access under the Freedom of Information Act 2000

Here we provide guidance on making a request for information (RFI), and provide detailed copies of the legislation which supports your rights of access to information. When referred to external web sites, please note that London Councils does not take responsibility for inaccurate information.

London Councils' Publication Scheme

As part of the information access regime, London Councils has created a Publication Scheme. This scheme contains classes of information that has been made available to the public. Broad definitions of these classes have been adopted as part of our commitment to greater openness. The Scheme will be periodically reviewed to ensure that the information provided is up to date.

London Councils will only withhold information as exempt when it falls within the categories of information defined in the statute, and where the balance of public interest is against disclosure.

Rights of access to information include the following acts:

Freedom of Information Act 2000

Data Protection Act 1998

Environmental Information Regulations 2004
