Web accessibility statement
London Councils provides information on this website in a format which is designed to be accessible to all, regardless of ability or disability. We recognise that there are many different ways people access information on the web and we try to allow for the many personal preferences which provide maximum ease of use for individual visitors to the site.
The site is developed using valid XHTML and cascading style sheets (CSS) which means the content is separated from presentational elements. This makes the site available to any visitors that use assistive technologies such as screen readers and switches. Keyboard-only operation and text-only browsers are also fully supported.
Our site has been thoroughly tested for accessibility and has achieved Accessible accreditation from the Shaw Trust. Shaw Trust accreditation is recognised as the most comprehensive available.
We meet the international AA standard set by the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI), and we constantly strive to improve standards across our whole site, aiming for the site to reach the highest AAA standard. We know that occasionally pages fall short of this standard, so please contact us if you have any difficulties.
Our site user guide gives detailed practical guidance on accessibility.
