World City Division Circular 09/01 - Publication of the IPC implementation route map

The Government's Planning Act 2008 Opens in a new window was granted Royal Assent on the 26th November 2008. The Act built on proposals outlined in the 2007 Planning White Paper and introduces a new planning system for nationally significant infrastructure projects, alongside reforms to the town and country planning system and the introduction of the Community Infrastructure levy.

As part of the establishment of the new planning regime, CLG has published two documents:

  • the Infrastructure Planning Commission implementation route map, which outlines the steps that will be taken to set up a new body, the Infrastructure Planning Commission (IPC). This body will review all applications for nationally significant infrastructure projects.
  • the Consultation on list of statutory consultees for National Policy Statements (NPSs). This document outlines the proposed list of organisations that will be consulted as part of the process of developing NSPs, which will form the basis of the new IPC's decision making.

London Councils is seeking comments in response to this consultation by 30th March 2009.

Comments should be sent to: infrastructurepolicy@londoncouncils.gov.uk with the subject line WCD09/01 - Publication of the Infrastructure Planning Commission implementation route map.
