World City Division Circular 08/15 - TfL Consultation on the Future of the Congestion Charging Weste
On 1 September 2008 the Mayor of London published a five week consultation seeking views on the future of the Western Extension to the Congestion Charging Zone. This is a non-statutory consultation which will be used to inform any decision on the future operation of the Western Extension. Any major alterations to the way that the Western Extension operates, including the removal of the zone, would require a full 12 week statutory consultation.
The Mayor and TfL are seeking views on three possible options:
- Keep the Western Extension as it is
- Remove the Western Extension
- Change the way the Western Extension operates by introducing account based payment options, introducing a charge-free period or by increasing the residents' discount to 100%.
The consultation closes on 5 October 2008. London Councils will be submitting a response to this consultation. In order to inform this response we are seeking views on the proposals contained in the consultation by 22 September 2008. Responses should be sent to: infrastructurepolicy@londoncouncils.gov.uk with the subject line WCD0815 WEZ options consultation.
