London Councils Response to 'A New Plan for London' - Proposals for the Review of the London Plan
London Councils has submitted a response to the Mayor of London's proposals document for the review of the London Plan, which has been published for its first stage of consultation.
In the response, London Councils has highlighted six key themes that we believe should inform the review of the London Plan policies and processes. These are:
- The need to clearly identify the role and function of the London Plan
- The need for freedom and flexibility for boroughs to determine local issues
- The need for better partnership working with the boroughs regarding planning matters, in line with the commitments made as part of the City Charter process -
- A plan for the whole of London that is not constrained by artificial boundaries or definitions
- Importance of clear linkages to other Mayoral policy documents and strategies and decisions on investment priorities
- An emphasis on development and growth without compromising quality of life for London's residents
The full London Councils response to the proposals set out in the consultation document can be viewed below. London Councils will also be responding to the public consultation stage which is due to take place in the Autumn.
