Local authorities ready to cope with swine flu
London’s local authorities are working closely with the Mayor’s office, health services and government agencies to monitor and deal with any issues arising from the outbreak of swine flu.
London Councils’ Chairman Councillor Merrick Cockell said:
“London’s local authorities have been preparing for the possible outbreak of a flu pandemic for the last five years so are primed to respond to any issues arising as a result of swine flu in the capital.
“We are already working closely with the health service, the government and other London agencies to monitor the changing situation. We will work together to ensure the capital and its public services continue to run smoothly.”
The government has launched the National Pandemic Flu Service to assess people's symptoms and, if required, provide an authorisation number, which can be used to collect antivirals from a local Antiviral Collection Point.
